A Husband’s Duty & Responsibilities Increases Over Time: Balika Vahdu

~~~
After marriage, a woman develops a natural hesitation
and unreasonable fear, which has to be driven out
by her husband & that’s his duty.
And the responsibilities increase for the second marriage.
I am in love with the change in the storyline in Balika Vahdu. Whoever would have thought in a million years that Anandi would be getting married to another man for the second time. Especially because back in those days in India, second marriages were not the norm. If a woman was ever divorced by her husband it seems she would be out of luck. While the man could go on and marry for a second time without a thought.
Anyway, I am getting such amazing vibes and I have fallen so much and deeply in love with watching how Shiv (Sidhath Skukla) is pouring so much of his love, devotion, and affection onto Anandi (Pratyusha Banerjee.) I tell you Shiv is such a good-looking hunk and so gentle at the same time. (That’s why I say he reminds me of Superman.) He considers his new wife’s feelings at all times and thinks in such a positive way towards her every step of the way in their new journey. It’s truly refreshing to see this between a couple. I get goosebumps every time I see them blushing at the sight of each other. And how he adores her so much. From the moment they were married, it brings me back to my wedding day and the first few months of my marriage to my husband. When I see Anandi and Shiv. I see me and my husband’s love.
Just as Shiv does and behaves with Anandi, my husband behaved the same way towards me. I remember how first being married affected me in a different way. Right after we were married I went into the restroom for a very long time. I stood there looking into the mirror to see if there was anything different about me. (Smile) When I think back to that moment I laugh to myself. I don’t remember exactly how long I was in there but as sure as my name is Betty, my husband sent someone in to check on me after a while, he was so caring and concerned just as he is today. So the lady walked in and said, “Your husband asked me to come in and check on you.” Then she asked, “Are you ok?” Even she was so very kind and caring. Well after she said this it seems like I came back to the world yall. (Smile) Cause I was in a daze for a while. I tell you being in love affects all kinds of people in so many different ways. And so I went back out to be with my new husband again.
After we moved into our own apartment I remember how he would always want to hug and hold onto me. I was always surprised each time yall. (Smile) He’d say I was like sweet honey. (Smile) I tell you men know how to win your heart when they want to… right. So anyway, as I look at Anandi and Shiv I can’t help but have this huge smile on my face all during the show and all day after that. But, at the same time, I feel kinda sad because Sidhath Skukla just recently passed away last month just as his storyline in this show started. And so it’s not easy watching him every day now on the show knowing in the back of my mind that he is no longer with us. And also Pratyusha Banerjee is gone too. Even she died at a very young age. They both were true to their art and amazing actors and it’s so sad knowing we won’t be blessed with their continued talent in the future. But I am happy with what they have left all of us.
“Say You Love Me”
~~~

By the way, my most favorite African American actress and singer is Jennifer Holiday. That’s right yall! I remember seeing her live on stage as she played the role of “Effie” in that Broadway musical “Dream Girls” right there in Manhattan in New York City. It was awesome! Everybody there was amazed when she came out on stage and sang “And I Am Telling You, I’m Not Going.”

And I am telling you… LOL! The original “Dream Girls” was something wonderful and sensational. It certainly was a joy and a pleasure to have witnessed such magic. I’ll never forget that day in all of my life.

“I’m On Your Side”

I’M ON YOUR SIDE

(LYRICS)

Ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh, oh
In the game of love
Sometimes we get left behind
When pushin’ comes to shove
And happiness is so hard to find
A fall from love can break your spirit
Paint a rosy outlook blue
Darlin’, you don’t have to fear it
Cause, baby, I’m here for you
I’m on your side when times are hard
And you need some understanding
I’m on your side when times gets rough
And no one else can care enough
I’m on your side to be for you
You can say, you’re free
But sometimes you’re the last to know
Well, you can come to me, yes, you can
When some heartache really lays you low
If your lover leaves you cryin’
You don’t have t be alone
Call my number, keep on tryin’
Cause, baby, you know, I’ll be home
I’m on your side when times are hard
And you need some understanding
I’m on your side when times gets rough
And no one else can care enough
Hey, I’m on your side to be for you
Mmm, havin’ a friend when you’ve come to the end
Makes it easier
(Makes it easier)
Come back to me
I can save you when she tries to tear you apart
(Tear you apart)
I won’t break your heart, no
I’m on your side, baby, when times are hard
And you need some understanding

I’m on your side, baby-baby, when times gets rough
And it seems that no one else can care enough
I’m on your side, baby, whenever you need me
Just count on me, yeah
I’m on your side, yes, I am, you see
I’m on, hey, on your side, hey, hey, hey, yes
I’ll be your friend to the very end
I’m on your side, I’m on your side, baby, yes, I am, ooh
Just like a bridge on troubled water
I’m on your side, I’m your side, yeah
I’m on your side
I’m on your side, yes, I am
