Prepping: Lights Out And Game Night

Our electricity went out again this week but only for a few hours this time and so our whole house propane generator kicked in right away and yes it was amazing. And once the crew came and had to shut the electricity of the entire area again to make repairs to a box and so we were unaffected once again and so that was so nice.

So for anyone who is considering getting one I highly recommend it! That baby kicked in one second after the whole area’s electricity was shut down and when the electricity was restored it shut itself off instantly. So for only those few hours it barely used any of the propane because we were at 50% and it went down only one point. What was nice is that we were able to continue with our lives uninconvenienced and uninterrupted. My husband was able to continue watching his favorite TV show and I was able to continue on the internet. I tell you to be able to walk into the bathroom and turn the light on as usual and to go into the kitchen and sit for dinner and to open the fridge for a soft drink and the air conditioning still going was so nice.

My one and only neighbor (for miles) said she couldn’t find her flashlight and when she did she called to say she was coming over to our house to stay till the electricity came back on. We welcomed her in as I was sipping on fizzy ginger beer and lime and we played a board game for some goldfish crackers while our favorite old school music played in the background. In the board game “Sequence” two-eyed jacks are wild and so I got it twice but it did not help me that much because my husband beat me twice and I won once. But I tell you we had a lot of fun being way out here in the boondocks!

So I think if you have any type of new board games you’re unfamiliar with, do go ahead and play with them now while access to the internet is available. I went on YouTube for directions to this game since we were kinda rusty.

And so playing board games takes me back to the days when I was living at home with my huge family as a child and young girl with my parents, sisters and brothers and how poor we were but somehow we tried to make the best of it and be happy anyway. We played these same types of board games and snacked on delicious homemade treats my sisters made and we enjoyed each others company, loved on each other and encouraged each other. We were all we had and somehow that was more than enough.

And so as we used to do back in the day, on this day we played our music really loud as we sang along, danced, played the board game, snacked on delicious food and drinks and enjoyed each others company in spite of all that is wrong in the world.

I hope you enjoy this music as much as we do too.
