Making Home A Magical Warm Inviting Place…. Re-Decorating, Sprucing & Tidying Up Of The Home With The Seasons With Love Always

around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely

places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”

We shopped and brought two pretty decorative wreaths for the front door (I love wreaths) and new sheer glitter curtains for the living room, sheer poofy curtains for the kitchen window, kitchen utensils, copper cookie sheets and baking pan set and some pretty cup cake art for the kitchen walls. I also added some lovely fake cupcakes to a cup cake stand on the kitchen counter and it looks so adorable and pretty. I love the smell of melted wax scents and in every room added lavender and gain scented “glade oil plug-ins” and I like to keep them on the lowest level so the scent is a hint that lasts and they make the whole house smell so fresh and amazing! It’s remarkable how there are so many amazing ways to make it so you work less.

As the seasons change I sit by my window with amazement from time to time and think of how amazing God’s handy work is as he yet allows us to enjoy what he has made. Each season becomes an automatic reminder to me that it’s time to do a bit of decluttering because I dream of one day our home becoming more of a minimalist home. But for right now I accept things the way they are, so it’s time to do a bit of cleaning, sprucing and tidying up once again.

All year we survive between seasons with light cleaning and just as a doctor slowly makes his hospital rounds we slowly get around to do the work of keeping house. Keeping our house clean and cozy at all times is important to us and it’s a benefit because whenever unexpected guests stop by we aren’t running around at a frantic pace to straighten things or clean things because its already done.

~~~
Once this past fall came around my husband and I got together with our plans which sometimes seems to grow bigger as we go along (smile) on how we were going to do things. As usual we hire help where needed for both indoors and outdoors and then do a few things that we can.
~~~

~~~
So for the bathroom I purchased a new inexpensive pretty shower curtain and I added some decorative towels. I purchased two plain towel sets and then added pretty tassels and lace to make them look expensive and pretty as they are not to be used but are for decorative purposes only. And it’s time we replace both toilets and so we plan to go to Home Depot or Lowes to buy them. I buy lots of “Scrubbing Bubbles Blue Tank Tablets” and the “Lysol Lavender Click Gels” for the toilet tank and bowl so we can cut back on scrubbing the bowl as much. And we have lots of Clorox and Lysol sanitizing wipes so the only job we have to do is at least wipe the rim, seat and bottom portion once a day or every other day.
We move what ever is not nailed down so the area gets vacuumed and mopped underneath with sudsy ammonia. The layer of dust always amazes me because it seems it takes no time for it to accumulate underneath things. But getting the furniture and appliances moved more then once or twice a year is sufficient enough for us, as we swiffer and vacuum the floors everyday or at least every other day. Mopping is done once every week or every two weeks but each season the floors are steam mopped then shined. So we try our best to keep everything clean all year making our way starting from top to bottom.
We purchased (for $145) the “Singer Magic Electronic Pressing Machine” we use for ironing the curtains, shirts, dresses, pants, pillow cases and sheets as it helps to cut ironing time in half and makes the job more fun to do. I think ironing a minimal few pieces at a time can be so relaxing and therapeutic.
I also noticed there’s a new iron/pressing machine on the market called “Swash Express Clothing Care System” and it seems like it would be amazing to have. I tell you where was this amazing technology back when I needed it back in the day? It used to take me hours to press my husbands uniform shirts and pants back then. Last year my husband split his work pants and because they get so messy I just purchased some jean patches and ironed them on. The patches are hidden so you can’t see them and so he’s glad he didn’t have to throw them away and purchase more only to get them messy.
The windows, sills and the blinds are cleaned and the curtains are washed and we hang soft light weight beige blankets to the windows then the curtains are hung over the blankets, it works well at keeping us warm in winter and cool in summer. Then the washing machine gets put through an empty cycle at least once a season with some good cleaning product I found for cleaning it.
So after the housework for the season is all done we are happy as bee’s that it’s all over and we revert back to regular light cleaning jobs to maintain the cleanliness.
~~~

~~~
I like to celebrate by taking a steaming hot shower then relaxing in my bed snuggled up with sheet’s that’s been scented with lots of lavender fabric softener in the rinse cycle and my brand new fluffy pillows and a new soft warm nightie (long or short) and have a cup of hot tea with milk or hot coco with lots of marshmallows and a favorite snack on my bedside while watching a delightful movie or two or spend the time reading.
Taking care of home, nesting, treating all of my things with respect, tender and good loving care is what I do. I love it when all my things are well kept and in good condition that they remain looking brand new. There’s nothing like living in a clean and good smelling environment. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world. I always give thanks for that, always! As they say….. Home Is Where The Heart Is.
