The Benefits In Being A Lady

When I was young, my mama used to say, Boy

A woman’s like a flower, with love on her you shower

Ever since that day, her words never went away

I always will remember to treat my baby tender

Treat Her Like A Lady”

~The Temptations~

It’s nice when a lady can attract what she is about…… a gentleman who believes in acts of chivalry towards her even in today’s modern world.

~~~
~~~

My idea of a lady is the kind of woman that has learned the fine art of how to dress and be “lady like” at all times and under various circumstances. Being “lady like” carry’s benefits like having a chivalrous man around to help her. For some it may take time to attract that right gentleman into her presence but once he is in her presence he’ll shower her with his amazing chivalrous behavior.

~~~
~~~

Having “lady like” qualities benefits a lady mainly because she sets high standards for herself and has high morals. Chivalrous behavior may seem rare these days but a ladylike woman can awaken it because her value is great. Not only is her elegant ways cherished by her, but her behavior, movements, grace, poise and gentleness is altogether enchanting and altogether lovely. A lady takes amazingly good care of herself and her grooming is impeccable! I believe a lady should always strive for improvement in herself everyday and never give up on her game.

~~~
~~~

For me there has always been many women who meet the high criteria of gracefulness, elegance and beauty with lady like qualities and some of them were way before my time and they are: Diane Carroll (TV Series Dynasty And Julia), Dorothy Dandridge, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Olivia De Havilland, Michelle Obama, Lynn Whitfield (Eve’s Bayou),

~~~
~~~

Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, and Jackie O. They portray themselves to be 100% a lady! (I especially loved Diane Carroll’s lady like look when she played the role of Dominique Deveraux in the 1980’s TV series Dynasty.)

~~~
~~~

For me a lady learns to make graceful movements by handling everything with the utmost care and she never just grabs onto something. When she reaches for anything or touches anything it’s always with a gentle and graceful touch. As she so carefully picks things up and puts things back down.

~~~
~~~

She sits with her legs together, sits and stands with the best posture, allows a gentlemen to open and close doors for her, help her with her chair and her coat and thinks nothing of walking on the outside of the curb for her and when she’s cold covers her with his coat. I tell you back in the day this kind of treatment by men was more common then not. And so women felt loved, protected and cherished.

~~~
~~~

A ladylike woman always has an elegant air about her, always gentle and careful with her choice of words, sets high standards and is as morally sound as possible. She pours her tea or coffee like a lady, she’s kindhearted and treats little ones and small pets super special. She wears make up always in good taste and what I like most about being a lady is that she can be of various sizes, be it slim and trim or over weight but she knows how to wear her clothing in a way that hides her imperfections.

~~~
~~~

For me a lady likes to buy expensive types of things for herself. She is a gentle soul, always at peace with herself and hardly ever frantic. She eats and treats herself to the kinds of foods that are nourishing for both her body and soul. She is knowledgeable about various topics and subjects and exposes herself to the finer things in life and to the various arts.

~~~
~~~

So when you meet a lady don’t be surprised to find out that she has been to a finishing school of some sort and maybe taken a few classes on etiquette, grooming and majored in social graces.

~~~
~~~

And so there are more woman that I love to watch to learn and live vicariously through them such as:

Anita Baker, Lena Horne, Natalie Wood, Hedy Lamarr (Samson And Delilah), Princess Diana, Maureen O’Sullivan, Liz Taylor, Loretta Young, Joan Crawford, Claudette Colbert, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Greta Garbo, Lana Turner, Ingrid Bergman, Diane Lane, Loretta Devine, Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show), Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Angela Bassett, Sophia Lauren, Gene Tierney (The Ghost And Mrs. Muir), Maureen O’Hara, Jane Seymour (Somewhere In Time), Irene Dunne (My Favorite Wife) and the list can go on and on, but you get the idea.

~~~
~~~

I tell you there is nothing better then being a spoiled lady like woman that’s used to being treated like a tender flower.

It’s no wonder that one of my most favorite songs of all time by the Temptations is Treat Her Like A Lady!

Treat Her Like A Lady” Lyrics

~~~
Ooh, ooh, oh, ooh, oh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, oh, ooh
Ooh, yeah, baby
Whoa, whoa, oh, oh
Mmm
~~~

Now I’m the kinda guy who don’t believe

That chivalry is dead, no

Cause I believe a woman should be treated

With the utmost respect, mmm, hmm

~~~
Don’t be afraid, don’t turn and walk away
I wanna get to know ya, well
Don’t be ashamed, don’t say that love’s to blame
Just come and look me over
You’ll find a heart that you’ve always been looking for
How could anybody ask for much more, woo, hoo
~~~

Now I like opening doors

Picking up her hanky off the floor

Treat her like a lady

~~~
Light her cigarette if she smokes
Even, help her with her coat, well
Treat her like a lady
~~~

In this world of liberation

It’s so easy to forget, mmm

That it’s so nice to have a man around

To lend a helping hand, you can bet, bet you can, baby

~~~
When I was young, my mama used to say, Boy
A woman’s like a flower, with love on her you shower
Ever since that day, her words never went away
I always will remember to treat my baby tender
You’ll find a heart that you’ve always been looking for
How could anybody ask for much more, whoa, ooh, ooh
~~~

Now I like opening doors

Picking up her hanky off the floor

Treat her like a lady

~~~
She’s a bad “son of a gun”
I’m her lovin Don Juan
Treat her like a lady
Ooh, hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo, ooh
Whoa, oh, oh
Hey, hey
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, baby
Every day, ever way
Hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
~~~

You’ll find a heart that you’ve always been looking for

How could anybody ask for much more, whoa, whoa, oh, ooh

~~~
Now I like opening doors
Picking up her hanky off the floor
Treat her like a lady
~~~

Light her cigarette if she smokes

Even, Help her with her coat, help her out

~~~
Treat her like a lady
Compliment her on her hair
Even help her with her chair
Treat her like a lady
~~~

Now boy, you should remember

To be a gentleman

(You better) Treat her like (Well), treat her like (Ho)

Treat her like a lady (Treat her like a lady)

Treat her like, treat her like (Hey, ey)

Treat her like a lady (Treat her like a lady)

Treat her like (Well), treat her like

Treat her like a lady (Treat her like a lady)

Treat her like, treat her like (Ooh, hoo)

Treat her like a lady (Hoo, hoo, oh, my, my, treat her like a lady)
