THE RAAI DANCE

A young Bednis woman, born to the Bednis Tribe in a village in India must accept a “Sardakhai” (a ritual before entering the trade of being a courtesan by performing the “Raai Dance”) they dance before wealthy men who are land owners (landlords) and these men pick which ever one they want to become their life long courtesan.

By the way the “Raai Dance” is absolutely beautiful to watch.
